Janet's Story
Growing up on 40 acres of woods in Northern Michigan was a great influence of Janet Long-Baker, with all the nature and wildlife to enjoy. She started sketching at a young age with her father, also an artist, who was a great inspiration to her. Janet also studied 4 years of art at Brethren High School in Brethren, MI and graduated in 1981. After that, she attended West Shore Community College for sketching and painting classes.
For the past 15 years she has been studying art at the workshops of other wildlife artists and continues to do so. Janet currently lives with her husband Dave outside of Harrietta, MI where she sells her art locally and teaches art classes. She has won several awards and ribbons for her art including the 2008 Michigan Ducks Unlimited Artist Print of the Year.
