The Office of Medical Education at Mary Free Bed Hospital is able to assist with various aspects of the research process, including: facilitating within the office, as well as with experts within the Mary Free Bed organization, and helping with literature searches, study design consultation, statistical consultation, regulatory requirements consultation, budget consultation, and logistics consultation. The Office of Research provides support to faculty, residents, and students in all areas of research and scholarly activity. Some of the services include:

Administrative
The Office of Research assists faculty, residents, and students in developing a research project, including choosing the appropriate design and power analysis for determining adequate sample size.

Research Facilitation
Research facilitation can include assistance with data collection and form development, assistance with project implementation, and assistance with making appropriate collaborative connections with individuals or organizations.

EDUCATIONAL
Grants

GRMERC can assist you in locating funding for your project, if necessary. Contact GRMERC early as funding may take six months to a year to obtain.

Emphasis on Education
Research for undergraduate and graduate trainees (medical students, residents, and other allied health professionals) is an important component of their educational training. We work with each residency program to help meet requirements for research projects. GRMERC's goal is to expose undergraduate and graduate trainees to research design, theory, and carrying out the project to its conclusion.

RESEARCH DAY
Each year, the Education & Research Center sponsors an annual Research Day as a forum to highlight the ongoing basic and clinical research projects of students, residents, and allied health professionals within the Grand Rapids area.

Rehab Trials is specifically designed to gather and publicize ongoing clinical trials in rehabilitation. RehabTrials gathers research of interest to the rehab community.

PoinTIS provides comprehensive information on spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation for healthcare providers, patients, and patients' families.

Acorda provides a brief overview of the research it is conducting into a cure for spinal cord injury.

Layton Bioscience offers medical research updates.

BrainNet, the National Foundation for Brain Research’s online resource, routinely distributes or assists in the distribution of information related to the central nervous system or various neurological disorders that is not commonly found on the Internet.
