Destiny has a passion for helping others. She decided to go into occupational therapy because it will allow her to help facilitate her “patient’s health and wellbeing through the engagement or re-engagement of meaningful and purposeful occupations, while being
creative at the same time.”

Destiny is very involved both in school activities and her community. She is the head of the social chair for her national honors fraternity and the Community Involvement Coordinator for the Student Occupational Therapy Association. 

Currently, Destiny is working as a specialty scheduler for HealthCare Midwest Ear, Nose, Throat/Head & Neck Surgery Care, and is enrolled at Western Michigan University in their five-year Occupational Therapy program. She expects to graduate with her master’s degree in December 2010.

Since she was very young Thu knew she wanted to be a nurse when she grew up. Thu moved to Michigan in 2004 from Vietnam. Her childhood in Vietnam helped her understand how fortunate she was, and she knew that she wanted to spend her life helping others.

In high school, Thu was part of the National Honors Society her junior and senior year. She was also on the honor roll every year in high school.

Thu just graduated from West Ottawa High School. She is enrolled as a freshman at Grand Valley State University in their nursing program. She is expected to graduate in May 2013.
