Pediatric Orthotics

Our pediatric orthotists work closely with families, pediatric physicians, therapists, and special education schools to provide the most appropriate orthotic technology to children.

Custom pediatric orthoses

Mary Free Bed O&P provides expedited services for recent surgeries, serial castings, and botox for fracture patients. Mary Free Bed's pediatric orthotists attend cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spasticity, scoliosis, spinal cord injury, and spina bifida clinics. Our pediatric orthotists also attend pediatric seminars and in-services on an annual basis to stay current with pediatric best practices.

Scoliosis Services

Scoliosis, a lateral curvature of the spine, generally occurs in adolescence, typically in the 9 - 14 year age range. Scoliosis may be addressed with a scoliosis brace if a curve progresses to 25 - 45 degrees.

Physicians evaluate the affect of the curve on back pain, breathing, and disfigurement and decide when to use scoliosis bracing to prevent further progression of the spinal curve. If a brace is prescribed, a Mary Free Bed orthotist, trained in the evaluation, design, fabrication, and fit scoliosis orthoses, provides scoliosis services.

Scoliosis orthoses

  • Boston
  • Charleston
  • Providence
  • Milwaukee
  • TLSO style designs

After the customized spinal orthosis is fit, the orthotist provides information on care, wearing schedules, and follow-up care.
