Mary Free Bed Prosthetics
Prosthetics deals specifically with the replacement of an extremity through the fabrication of a custom prosthesis. The prosthesis is designed to provide both functional and cosmetic benefits.
Prosthetic Services
To be seen, a patient must have his condition evaluated by a physician who writes a prescription for a prosthesis. We accommodate walk-in patients during normal office hours.
Prosthetic services include:
-
Evaluation
-
Fabrication
-
Fitting and instruction
-
Adjustments
-
Repair
Evaluation
The prosthetist will complete an evaluation, which includes taking a relevant history, measurements, and an impression.
Fabrication
In our extensive lab, Mary Free Bed prosthetic technicians prepare the patient’s prosthesis through custom fabrication.
Fitting and Instruction
Our prosthetic staff evaluates function, fit, and comfort when fitting a patient’s prosthesis. We provide basic instructions on how to use and care for the prosthesis. If necessary, a therapist may give additional help and training.
Adjustments
Each prosthesis may require adjustments to get the prosthesis to fit just right. This process requires team work between the patient and prosthetist. Adjustments or replacements may be needed as the patient grows, ages, or experiences changes in physical condition or lifestyle.
