Pediatric Orthotics & Prosthetics
Orthotics deals specifically with the bracing of weak or ineffective joints or muscles through the use of an orthosis. An orthosis is designed to support the spine or limb that is in a weakened, disabled, or in post–operative condition. Similarly, pedorthics addresses issues with the foot and ankle. Prosthetics deals specifically with the replacement of an extremity through the fabrication of a custom prosthesis. The prosthesis is designed to provide both functional and cosmetic benefits.
