Your child’s injuries and rehabilitation may be overwhelming at times. In addition to providing you with the information and answers you need, Mary Free Bed’s pediatric staff will help your child and you take recovery and rehabilitation in manageable pieces – moment by moment, day by day.
Mary Free Bed offers trauma rehabilitation for children between birth and high school graduation to help achieve the highest level of physical and psychosocial functioning. The Mary Free Bed staff also provides support for your child or teenager’s return to school or prevocational programs. Mary Free Bed offers rehabilitation care for children and teens with the following injuries or conditions:
Brain injury, brain-related illnesses, and concussion
Multiple trauma, with or without fractures
Spinal cord injury

During your child’s stay at Mary Free Bed, please feel free to surround the one you love with familiar items from home. You may also room in with your baby, child, or teen. Bathrooms and showers are available on the same floor as your child’s room and laundry facilities can be found down the hall.
If you need a break or you’d rather stay off site, there are many lodging options close to Mary Free Bed, including hotels and the Ronald McDonald House. Mary Free Bed even has an on-site hotel patients and families may use. And though it may seem impossible, if you feel you need to get away for a couple of hours, entertainment is minutes away – just ask one of the child life specialists or a nurse for information.
Mary Free Bed also offers spiritual care for your child’s and your comfort. To receive spiritual services, visits, or sacraments, please ask a nurse to contact the chaplain. The ministry provided at Mary Free Bed supports and respects the beliefs and traditions of all persons, regardless of spiritual or religious preferences.
