Orthotists and therapists work closely to evaluate and trial orthoses prior to fabrication of custom orthoses. Having an in-house team of orthotics experts means there can be continued collaboration between the therapist and the orthotist during subsequent therapy sessions to determine if adjustments or further modifications are needed to ensure optimal performance.
Examples of types of orthoses for patients with spinal cord injuries include halo braces, thoracic-lumbar-sacral orthoses (TLSO), ankle-foot orthoses (AFO), knee-ankle-foot orthoses (KAFO), reciprocating-gait orthoses (RGO), and wrist-hand orthoses.
