Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Clinic and Spasticity Clinic Services
Spinal Cord Injury Clinic
Patients who are followed by their Mary Free Bed doctors are seen for periodic rehabilitation checkups in the clinic setting. Care in the Spinal Cord Injury Clinic is directed by their physiatrist and will involve other specialists, as indicated. Spinal cord injury nurses and therapists also monitor the patient's post-discharge status during these spinal cord injury clinic visits. This enables us to provide ongoing spinal cord injury rehabilitation management in addressing patients’ changing needs. The Spinal Cord Injury Clinic additionally serves as a resource to individuals who may have not been prior Mary Free Bed spinal cord injury inpatients.

Patients with spinal cord injuries may have spasticity, a condition in which muscles become stiff and tight, making functional movement difficult or uncontrollable. The Spasticity Clinic helps spinal cord injury patients manage their condition through an appropriate combination of exercise programs and medications. Participating patients will be evaluated on a monthly basis.
