Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Inpatient Care
Spinal cord injury patients require 24-hour physician and rehabilitation nursing care, one or more therapy disciplines, and an intensity of spinal cord services not available on an outpatient basis.
Spinal cord injury patients must have potential for learning and carryover, family or support persons available for any necessary training, and have an identified discharge site.
Generally, spinal cord injury patients participate in three or more hours of therapy each day. Some of our more acute patients at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital may not be ready immediately for a full three hours of therapy per day. If this is the case, they will receive a combination of three hours or more of rehabilitation nursing care and therapy to build their tolerance.
