A stroke often causes visual impairment resulting in a decreased ability to use your vision for daily living activities. Occupational therapy at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital's Outpatient Therapy Center helps you compensate for a visual change to improve independence and safety.

Vision Therapy Services

Comprehensive Evaluation
Your assessment takes into account your stroke and other medical history and includes several specialized tests:

  • Visual acuity
  • Contrast sensitivity
  • Visual field deficit
  • Visual inattention
  • Oculomotor dysfunction
  • Visual perceptual deficit

Dynavision 2000 Light Training Board
The Dynavision 2000 Light Training Board provides training benefits to those whose visual and motor function are affected by stroke or other injury or disease.

Your vision therapy focuses on some or all of the following areas:

  • Visual field training
  • Visual reaction time training
  • Eye/hand coordination
  • Compensatory training and re-education
  • Perceptual skill training
  • Adaptive technology and equipment
  • Visual retraining activities
  • Home exercise program
