Pediatric Brachial Plexus Injury Program
A brachial plexus injury, also known as Erb’s or Klumpe’s palsy, is an injury involving the bundle of nerves at the shoulder — known as the brachial plexus — that control movement and sensation in the arm. An injury results in weakness or loss of movement in the shoulder, arm, or hand. Changes in sensation or numbness are common with a brachial plexus injury. This injury can affect your child's function in everyday activities like play, school, and self care.
The Pediatric Brachial Plexus Injury Program at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital helps children and teens increase use of their affected shoulder, arm, or hand. To be evaluated and treated by therapists at Mary Free Bed’s Outpatient Therapy Center in Grand Rapids, your child’s doctor must write a prescription.
