Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Network
The Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Network is committed to helping patients regain independence following serious injury or illness. Our network of collaborative organizations expands access to Mary Free Bed services, which restore hope and freedom through rehabilitation. Comprehensive services and an exclusive focus on rehabilitation enables specialty physicians and staff to achieve outstanding clinical outcomes.
Mary Free Bed’s culture emphasizes expert patient care and restoration of patient independence through high value services. At Mary Free Bed, we define high value as excellent quality and clinical outcomes, superior customer service, and care delivered at a reasonable cost. While Mary Free Bed places high importance on participation in research and education, our primary focus is on helping patients return home or to the community with as much function as possible. Education and research programs are supported when these initiatives complement our patient care mission.
Mary Free Bed History
Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, the flagship for the network, was founded more than 120 years ago in Grand Rapids, Michigan, by a group of civic-minded women. The hospital has grown from a single free bed to a polio hospital to a complete system of rehabilitative care.
