Four new CARF accreditations for Mary Free Bed

Grand Rapids, Mich. – Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital’s amputation programs as well as the home and community services programs have been newly accredited by CARF International, the independent non-profit accrediting agency for rehabilitation hospitals.

These 4 new accreditations boost the number of accredited rehabilitation programs to 11 for Mary Free Bed. Each one demonstrates a commitment to continuously improve quality and focus on patient satisfaction.

The accreditation of these 4 programs and the re-accreditation of 7 others extends through April 2016. CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) has been putting its seal of approval on Mary Free Bed’s inpatient and outpatient programs for more than 25 years.

The accreditation was announced this month. It comes after 7 CARF surveyors spent two days taking an in-depth look at Mary Free Bed’s inpatient, outpatient and home-based programs in early October.

“The nice thing about a CARF survey is it’s very collaborative. These are colleagues who work in the field so we learn from each other, dialogue and share ideas,” said Robert Bosch.

The newly accredited programs are:

  • Home and Community Services: Brain Injury Specialty Program (Adults)
  • Home and Community Services: Spinal Cord System of Care (Adults)
  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital: Amputation Specialty Program (Adults)
  • Interdisciplinary Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Programs: Amputation Specialty Program (Adults)
