Mary Free Bed Orthotics & Prosthetics
Mary Free Bed Orthotics & Prosthetics (O&P) provides care for people needing orthotic, prosthetic, seating, and adaptive equipment to help them maximize their independence. Mary Free Bed O&P seeks excellence through innovation, leadership, and advocacy.
Orthotics deals specifically with the bracing of weak or ineffective joints or muscles through the use of an orthosis. An orthosis is designed to support the spine or limb that is in a weakened, disabled, or in post–operative condition. Similarly, pedorthics addresses issues with the foot and ankle.
Prosthetics deals specifically with the replacement of an extremity through the fabrication of a custom prosthesis. The prosthesis is designed to provide both functional and cosmetic benefits.
The Rehab Technology Center provides custom seating, augmentative communication, computer access, and assistive technology services. Evaluations are focused on the patient, the family, and the caregivers. Therapists and technicians consider all of the patient’s medical and functional needs, and use trial situations along with demonstration equipment to ensure that recommendations will meet the unique needs of each patient.
OrthoSEAT stands for Orthotic Seating, Equipment, and Assistive Technology. As a part of the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital Rehab Technology Center, OrthoSEAT provides high-quality, therapeutically designed seating components as well as other custom assistive devices. The OrthoSEAT staff of experienced professionals works as a team to serve each patient and promote comfort and optimized wheelchair positioning, thus gaining the most independence possible.
