Lord God today I begin another day with all its possibility and all its uncertainty. Give me the grace to accept all that I shall encounter today. Bring hope where hope is needed, bring healing where healing is needed, and bring your peace where peace is needed. Guide me and be with me — giving me your strength. Amen.
Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name, you are mine. Should you pass through the sea, I will be with you; or through rivers, they will not swallow you up. Should you walk through fire, you will not be scorched and the flames will not burn you. For I am Yahweh, your God. . . Because you are precious in my eyes, because you are honored and I love you. . .
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; he makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Lord, I need you to stand by me. So much is happening – I feel so powerless. It’s scary to be in that place. I need to feel your presence close to me – to hold me in your arms, reassure me, and love me. Remind me, O God, that nothing is going to happen to me today that you and I together cannot handle. For in that I find hope. Amen.
Come to me, all of you who labor and are over-burdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light…
At the close of this day, Lord, I am reminded of your faithfulness. My body is tired – give me rest this night that I may awake feeling strengthen and renewed. Be with and bless my family and friends, and hold them close to you this night as well. Hold me in your care and grant me peace. Amen.
