Back in Motion is in the process of transitioning to Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation. The office location will not change. Please direct any questions about this transition, including billing and insurance, to Tanya Hubbard at tanya.hubbard@maryfreebed.com or backinmotion1@sbcglobal.net

Find specialized rehabilitative care for adults in a comfortable outpatient setting conveniently located on Grand Rapids’ northwest side. Our expert clinicians provide active solutions for patients experiencing spine or joint pain, arthritis, headaches, balance disorders, stiffness or pain from an injury or following surgery.

It is a valuable option for patients with high-deductible health plans and health savings accounts (HSA). Most patients can be scheduled within 72 hours of an initial contact.

Our office is one of only three Certified McKenzie Clinics in Michigan. The McKenzie Method (Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy) is a highly targeted assessment process that, combined with active patient involvement and education, addresses a variety of musculoskeletal impairments. The McKenzie system uses repetitive end-range exercises to aid in recovery, and our office has a REPEX therapy table to enhance their effectiveness.

We use a disciplined approach to determine the most efficient road to recovery. Following a mechanical assessment, you’ll be provided with individualized self-treatment techniques (exercises, postural guidance and advice) to safely regain function and independence at home, work and out in the community. Our goal is to help you understand your condition and empower you to achieve lasting results, while educating you in injury prevention strategies.

Back in Motion’s integration into the Mary Free Bed family represents a strong commitment to outstanding and cost-efficient care with a focus on getting you back to your life. Site leader Louise Merkx-Quinn, PT, OCS, DIP MDT, CEEAA, continues her track record of providing knowledgeable and personalized attention to both established and new patients. She has obtained the highest level of education through the McKenzie Institute (Diplomate) and is certified by the American Physical Therapy Association as an exercise expert for aging adults.

Merkx-Quinn and her teammate, Ben Vaughn, DPT, have a combined 32 years of clinical experience in the field.
