Quad Rugby - Mary Free Bed - Wheelchair & Adaptive SportsQuad rugby isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s fast moving, highly aggressive and brutal in chair-to-chair contact. As a member of the co-ed Grand Rapids Thunder quad rugby team, you’ll use specialized equipment to engage in intense competitive play.

Speed across the court on your wheelchair, passing the ball to a teammate while simultaneously dodging jabs from your opponents.

This sport is only available for individuals with quadriplegia; their disability must cause impairment in both their lower and upper extremities. It is a high-intensity sport played with heavy duty sport chairs that are fit to each individual and is played on a basketball court. Complete with chair-to-chair contact, it’s always exciting to watch!
