Orthotics & Prosthetics relocates to upgraded facilities

Grand Rapids, Mich. – Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital’s orthotics and prosthetics patients will have access to enhanced services and experience improved patient care as the hospital’s Orthotics & Prosthetics Corporation moved into new and high-tech office space over the weekend.

For the first time, the following four orthotics and prosthetics services will be housed together on the first floor of the hospital’s West Addition at the northeast corner of Jefferson Avenue and Wealthy Street SE:

  • Prosthetics
  • Orthotics
  • Assistive technology
  • OrthoSEAT (customized wheelchair seating)

In addition, upgraded and mobile technology will offer clinicians immediate access to patient records, allow for teleconferencing with patients and provide for the review of fabricated devices remotely. Computerized gait analysis systems have been integrated into three rooms and an onsite lab gives orthotists and prosthetists the ability to adjust and repair devices while patients wait.

“We’re eager to begin using the new technology, which we’re certain will bring our patient satisfaction rates and successes to an even higher level,” said Patrick Logan, vice president of the Mary Free Bed Orthotics & Prosthetics Corp.

Patients will be seen at the new location beginning today.
