Amway River Bank Run
Propelling forward with nothing but arm strength and conviction, wheelchair and handcycle racers at the Amway River Bank Run compete against elite athletes from all over the world. The Mary Free Bed Guild has proudly sponsored the 25K wheelchair race since 1989 and the handcycle race since 2005.
Athletes must use a racing wheelchair or handcycle to participate. Participants include former Mary Free Bed patients, Michigan residents and athletes from across the United States and abroad. This event raises public awareness of professional athletes in the adapted sports arena.

Mary Free Bed Open
Our annual Mary Free Bed Open, a golf outing to benefit Wheelchair & Adaptive Sports will take place on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Thousand Oaks Golf Club in Grand Rapids. This exciting event is a fantastic opportunity to advance our mission while enjoying a day on the course. All proceeds benefit our programs that provide access to adaptive equipment, coaching, competitions, and ensuring kids and adults with physical challenges get to play just like everyone else.
Time: Double Shotgun starts at 8:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Annual Grand Rapids Griffins vs. Sled Wings Fundraiser Game
In this unique and highly-anticipated event, the Griffins will host a friendly yet competitive game of sled hockey with the Grand Rapids Sled Wings. This event benefits the Griffins Youth Foundation and the Grand Rapids Sled Wings.
Griffins players and coaches also will be on hand for autographs.
Bikes for the Rest of Us
Riding a bike used to be out of the question for those with special needs. But it isn’t anymore. Bikes for the Rest of Us is an annual event at Mary Free Bed that introduces children and adults with disabilities to the sport of adaptive bicycling. Participants are individually paired with a therapist and evaluated to determine necessary adaptations that will enable them to pedal alongside their able-bodied friends.
Age: 3 years and older
Requirements: Participant must have a physical disability and reside in West Michigan.
