Comprehensive, Coordinated Care – All in One Day

At Mary Free Bed Kids, we understand that children recovering from illness, injury, or surgery often need multiple therapies to regain strength, independence and confidence.

Our Day Rehabilitation Program provides a convenient, coordinated approach—offering several therapy sessions on the same day. This schedule allows your child to receive the intensive, multidisciplinary care they need while minimizing disruptions to your family’s routine.

Our goal is to make rehabilitation as efficient, effective and fun as possible—because healing should always come with a smile.

How the Program Works

Each child’s rehabilitation plan begins with a comprehensive assessment of their strengths, abilities and goals. Together, you and your child play an active role in setting treatment objectives and designing a plan that fits their unique needs.

Our program typically includes:

  • Consistent therapy: Your child will participate in two to three hours of therapy per day, three to five days a week.
  • Comprehensive care teams: Your child will work with a combination of physical, occupational, recreational, and speech-language therapists.
  • Family collaboration: Parents and caregivers are encouraged to observe, participate and learn strategies to support continued progress at home.

We use a play-based, child-centered approach so therapy feels less like work—and more like fun.

What Makes Our Program Unique

  • Convenient coordination: Multiple therapy disciplines are provided back-to-back in one location.
  • Consistency and trust: Your child works with the same therapy team throughout their program for comfort, familiarity and progress tracking.
  • Expert teamwork: Your child’s therapists meet weekly in a team conference to review goals, share updates, and adjust treatment as needed.
  • Customized environment: All sessions take place in our kid-friendly, safe, and secure pediatric therapy spaces designed for fun, motivation and success.
  • Smooth transitions: We help families prepare for each stage of recovery, including a gradual shift from intensive day rehabilitation to traditional outpatient therapy when appropriate.

At Mary Free Bed Kids, collaboration is at the heart of what we do. Every member of your child’s team—from therapists to physicians—communicates closely to ensure care is seamless, supportive and effective.

Who Benefits from Day Rehabilitation

Our Day Rehabilitation Program is designed for children and teens who need intensive, coordinated therapy following:

  • Brain or spinal cord injury
  • Stroke or neurological event
  • Orthopedic surgery or trauma
  • Cerebral palsy or neuromuscular conditions
  • Prolonged illness or extended hospital stay
  • Developmental or functional regression due to medical conditions

Whether your child is learning to walk again, rebuilding endurance or refining communication skills, our team provides expertise and encouragement to help them thrive.

A Team Approach to Pediatric Recovery

Your child’s care is guided by a multidisciplinary team dedicated to their growth and success. Depending on their needs, this may include:

  • Pediatric physical therapists to improve strength, balance and mobility
  • Occupational therapists to promote independence in daily activities
  • Speech-language pathologists to enhance communication, cognition and swallowing
  • Recreational therapists to build social skills, confidence, and motivation through play
  • Rehabilitation nurses and care managers to support the family throughout the process

At Mary Free Bed Kids, your child’s primary therapist from each discipline attends weekly team conferences, ensuring consistent progress and clear communication.

Family Education and Support

We believe that family involvement is essential to every child’s success. That’s why we take time to educate, encourage and equip families with tools to continue therapy strategies at home.

You’ll receive guidance on:

  • Supporting your child’s physical and emotional needs
  • Encouraging independence and daily participation
  • Maintaining home exercises and mobility routines
  • Tracking progress and celebrating milestones

Our therapists work alongside parents and caregivers so the gains made in therapy continue at home, school and in the community.
