Volunteer

Volunteers are an integral part of our mission.

Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. We value diversity among the patients, families and communities we serve. We welcome anyone who’s a good fit to our organization.

You must be at least 18 years old to be a general volunteer or part of our College Student Volunteer Program.

General volunteers help throughout the hospital, from Guest Services to inpatient programs. We also have some opportunities as a clerical assistant and seamstress/tailor.

College Student Volunteer Program

This is ideal for undergraduate students looking to gain insight into their chosen careers in physical, occupational or recreational therapies in a hospital setting. We also offer limited opportunities in niche areas, including pain rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, aquatic recreational therapy and nursing.

Primary responsibilities include assisting with cleaning and organizing therapy gyms and helping to set up before and after therapy sessions.

Students are expected to volunteer on the same day each week for a 13- to 15-week session. Volunteer shifts are three-four hours long, and the average student receives 40-50 hours per session.

Student volunteers can receive an average of 10-15 observation-specific hours during his or her 40-50 hours of volunteering. However, this is not guaranteed.
