Scholarships
The Mary Free Bed Guild Scholarships empower students who are driven to make a meaningful impact through education and service. Awarded annually, these scholarships support undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities, as well as those pursuing careers in health care with a demonstrated commitment to serving traditionally underserved or underrepresented communities. With awards typically ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, the Guild has invested more than $1 million since 2002 in helping deserving students advance their career goals and shape the future of inclusive, compassionate health care.

About the Mary Free Bed Guild Scholarship
Award
An individual is eligible to apply for a one-year scholarship, which may be used for tuition, room and board or other school-related expenses. Students must apply for the scholarship each year and may receive a Mary Free Bed Guild Scholarship up to four times.
The scholarship selection committee is comprised of Mary Free Bed Guild members and Mary Free Bed Hospital employees.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet all the following criteria:
- Be a high school senior or graduate, current college undergraduate or current graduate level student
- Plan to enroll in part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the upcoming academic year
- Be a permanent resident of the state of Michigan
Meet one or both of the following criteria:
- Have a diagnosed physical disability
- Have overcome societal and/or personal challenges through determination and hard work and be interested in pursuing a career in health care and committed to serving diverse populations
Revision Policy
The Mary Free Bed Guild reserves the right to revise the conditions and procedures for the Mary Free Bed Guild Scholarship Program, including the termination of the program.
