Call Schedule

Mary Free Bed residents provide on-call physiatry services for the acute inpatient rehabilitation unit with a balanced, supportive schedule:

• PGY-2 Residents: On call one night per week and one weekend per month (Friday-Sunday), with reduced frequency in later years.
• Supportive Environment: A 24/7 in-house internal medicine service and APPs handle most non-rehabilitation issues. This helps to reduce the frequency of overnight calls and overall reduces call burden on our residents.
• Weekend Rounding: On-call residents round on weekends alongside an APP or resident, supported by two attending physicians.
• Post-Call Half Day: To help with fatigue mitigation, residents who complete a weekday home call shift are free from patient care duties the following morning. Incentive pay opportunities exist for weekend call coverage.

This schedule ensures meaningful clinical experience while maintaining a manageable workload.
