Doug has been a certified clinician since 1983, treating both adults and kids. He has many years of experience making relationships with patients and their families to achieve goals. He has specialized full-time in cranial orthotics for the past several years and will treat each baby as though he or she were his own grandchild. Doug holds a bachelor’s degree from Cedarville University and a graduate certificate in orthotics and prosthetics from Northwestern University Prosthetic-Orthotic Center.
Melissa is the cranial team lead at Mary Free Bed. She has specialized in cranial remolding since 2010 and has successfully treated thousands of infants with head shape deformities using the STARband cranial orthoses. Melissa’s cranial research has been published in the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics. She has treated many different diagnoses throughout her career and realizes that every infant is an individual with specific needs. She looks forward to getting to know you and your family as you work together to set goals for your child’s needs. Melissa joined Mary Free Bed in 2012.
Connie is a certified orthotist who specializes in
pediatrics. She focuses on lower and upper limb
pediatric orthotics, as well as scoliosis orthotics.
She’s a graduate of Eastern Michigan University
and Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center.
Kim is a certified orthotic assistant, fitter and technician. She’s worked at Mary Free Bed Orthotics for over 30 years in many different departments, including the fabrication lab and outreach clinics. She’s currently assisting with orthotic pediatrics.
Lyndzie is a certified orthotist/prosthetist who primarily works with inpatient orthotics, as well as with outpatient prosthetics. She has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and art from Hope College and a master’s degree in orthotics and prosthetics from California State University.
Pat is a certified orthotic and prosthetic technician, as well as a certified orthotic assistant and fitter. He joined Mary Free Bed in 1975 and started his orthotics career in 1980. In 1990, his worked expanded to prosthetics but has worked primarily in orthotics since 2000.
Shannon is a certified prosthetist/orthotist who specializes in pediatric orthotics and cranial remolding treatment. After completing her bachelor’s degree in exercise science, she received her master’s degree in orthotics and prosthetics from Baylor College of Medicine.
Brittany is a certified orthotist who specializes in general orthotics. She enjoys pediatric postoperative care and scoliosis bracing, in addition to helping patients with neuromuscular disorders. She received her bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and a post-bachelor’s degree certificate from Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center. She has been with Mary Free Bed since her residency in 2013.
Stephanie is an occupational therapist who leads our Amputee Care Liaison team. She enjoys working with a multidisciplinary team to provide the best outcomes for patients. Before joining Mary Free Bed in 2016, she worked in acute care on the orthopedic trauma floor. A two-time graduate from Grand Valley State University, Stephanie holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences and a master’s degree in occupational therapy.
A certified prosthetist/orthotist who specializes in lower extremity prosthetics, Jim has more than 15 years of experience in the field. Jim holds multiple certifications in microprocessor knees/feet and has experience fitting multiple different socket styles to fit the patient’s individual needs and goals. He’s a graduate of Central Michigan University and Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center.
Glenn is a certified prosthetist who specializes in upper and lower limb prosthetics as well as prosthetics for kids. He earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Michigan State University and his master’s degree in prosthetics from UCLA. Glenn joined Mary Free Bed in 2021.
Rachael is a certified prosthetist/orthotist who specializes in treating pediatric patients with orthotic and prosthetic needs. She’s published in the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics for her cranial remolding helmet work. A graduate of Michigan State University and Northwestern University Prosthetic-Orthotic Center, she completed both her orthotic and prosthetic residences at Mary Free Bed O&P+B.

Daniel is a certified prosthetist and certified technician in prosthetics and orthotics. He specializes in lower extremity prosthetics, focusing on complex fabrication cases, elevated vacuum, microprocessor-driven components and osseointegration. Daniel was born in Israel, where he grew up learning the family orthotics and prosthetics business.
Robert is a certified prosthetist/orthotist and assistant professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. He specializes in pediatric and upper limb prosthetics. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Drexel University and a certificate in prosthetics and orthotics from New York University – Post Graduate Medical School.
Steven is a certified prosthetist/orthotist who specializes in upper limb prosthetics. After completing his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Michigan State University, he continued his education at Eastern Michigan University where he earned his master’s degree in orthotics and prosthetics. He holds multiple certifications in upper and lower extremity technologies, including myoelectric hands and microprocessor knees and feet.
