Mary Free Bed Guild
In 1891, a small group of women set out to help people who couldn’t afford health care. The Grand Rapids community came together in the name of all Marys. Read how the first “free” bed was established, and how far we’ve come.

Our specialists share expertise and education recourses with the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation System, an alliance of hospitals, including inpatient and outpatient locations across Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Virginia and West Virginia.

Mary Free Bed is the nation’s most comprehensive rehabilitation provider and one of the largest not-for-profit, independent rehabilitation hospital systems in the country. We offer specialized physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) programs and services.
