Cardiac Rehabilitation

The experts at Mary Free Bed can help restore strength, mobility and greater independence for people who have had heart surgery, heart failure, heart transplant, myocardial infarction, chronic heart failure or another complex cardiac condition.

Cardiac patients who participate in inpatient physical rehabilitation tend to be stronger, healthier and, as a result, less likely to be readmitted to an acute care hospital.

Why Choose Mary Free Bed?

Using the latest techniques and technology, the clinicians in our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program can turn your fatigue into stamina and physical weakness into strength.

Physical rehabilitation, combined with good nutrition and a positive outlook, will help you get back on the path to independence and fully enjoying your life.

Your Rehabilitation

We’ll prescribe and provide specific therapies for you five to seven days a week. You’ll spend two to three hours a day in therapy. The intensity of your schedule will be specifically tailored to your cardiac condition and your level of tolerance.

Your physical therapist will get you up and moving, focusing on strength, endurance and safe mobility, which may include the use of our ceiling-mounted ambulation systems. Your occupational therapist will incorporate those gains into the everyday tasks most meaningful to you, such as self-care and re-integration in your community. Our specially trained heart team understands the complexities of cardiac rehabilitation and how to best monitor your progress.

We also will stay in contact with your referring physician and cardiologist, if necessary, to provide progress reports and ensure your rehabilitation schedule is appropriate. Our goal is to help you overcome barriers and build strength and confidence, all while ensuring a safe return to a healthy lifestyle.
