Mary Free Bed rises to the ‘Git Up’ challenge

“The Git Up” is sliding its way across the country this summer, and Mary Free Bed has accepted the “two-step then cowboy boogie” challenge.

Blanco Brown’s country-infused rap song lassoed the top spot on music charts, while the line-dance ditty ignited a viral dance challenge across social media. From police officers to celebrities to daddy-daughter duos, folks are happy to hoedown.

Our recreational therapy team pulled on cowboy boots and grabbed a few friends, including Mary Free Bed patients, to “do the butterfly and have a good time.” Even Charlie the Miniature Therapy Horse and Vandy, our animal-assisted therapy dog, threw down.

Now that we’ve stepped it up, it’s time to challenge some of our comrades in caregiving to giddy up and “Git Up.” We’re inviting:

Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, Florida

Carolinas Rehabilitation in Charlotte, North Carolina

TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston

Yee-haw, ya’ll! Are you ready for a hoedown throw down?
