Mary Free Bed Handcycle and Wheelchair Racing
Propelling forward with nothing but arm strength and conviction, wheelchair and handcycle racers at the Fifth Third River Bank Run compete against athletes from all over the world. The Mary Free Bed Guild has proudly sponsored the 25K wheelchair race since 1989 and the handcycle race since 2005. The Handcycling Team races against stiff competition.
Handcycling is for individuals 16 or older. Handcycling experience not necessary. Summer practices held at Victory Sign and Graphics on White Pine Trail, Saturdays at 2:00 pm. Spring and fall practices are at Millennium Park on Kent Trails, Sundays at 2:00 pm. Winter practice at your leisure (limited number of trainer stands available). For recreational handcyclists there is no cost to participate. For competitive handcyclists the cost is $40 (includes jerseys, t-shirts, stickers, and perks provided by our sponsors).
