After traumatic brain injury, Jake Rodgers defies odds with strong support system, hard work

Jake Rodgers has defied the odds since being struck by a car in December 2014. The Grand Rapids teenager sustained a traumatic brain injury and broken shoulder while crossing Fuller Avenue on the way home from a friend’s house. After being hospitalized for several months, Jake came to Mary Free Bed for rehabilitation.

In this video, Jake’s family and team share his remarkable story of recovery.

“He has defied everything the doctors told us that he wouldn’t be able to do, other than walking on his own, and we’re working on that right now,” said Jake’s dad, Jeff. ”He is making positive steps forward. I’m so thankful Mary Free Bed is here right in Grand Rapids.”
