Jr. Pacers and Adult Pacers Wheelchair Basketball

Instead of footwork, wheelchair basketball players use precise and daring chair skills. Players can stop their chairs on a dime, reach up with both hands to catch a flying pass, then sail down the court. Participation on the Jr. Pacers wheelchair basketball team involves local games as well as travel around Michigan and the U.S.

Junior and Adult Pacers Wheelchair Basketball Team

The Junior and Adult Pacers is a competitive sports program for full- or part-time wheelchair users; most participants have amputations, cerebral palsy, or spina bifida. Team participation involves local and away games, travel around Michigan and the United States, and competition in a national tournament. There are two junior teams, Prep and Varsity. Prep uses an 8 ½ -foot tall basket and Varsity uses a 10-foot tall basket. Participation in the program offers potential for college athletic scholarships for top athletes discovered through college-level wheelchair sports scouts attending tournaments and camp.
