Topic: Opioids: Special Topics

Description: Providers typically do not learn about synthetic opioids such as Methadone and Fentanyl during training and are unfamiliar with the role they play in managing pain. The provider needs to have knowledge of which opioids are safe or unsafe and the consequences of inappropriate opioid administration in real patients.  Participants will gain knowledge of safe opioid prescribing in patients with renal failure, the role of methadone in pain management, and a safe way to start opioid tapering.
