Mary Free Bed celebrates National Rehab Week [Video & Photo Recap]

Rehabilitation is hard work, and we take our mission seriously. But fun and laughter are an important part of the healing process. National Rehabilitation Awareness Week (Sept. 20-26) gave our staff and patients the perfect opportunity to cut loose and enjoy the lighter side of things.

The week-long celebration included group activities (a staff cookout, pie-eating contest, scarecrow-building contest) and themed dress-up days (college sports, tie-dye/Hawaiian shirts, jeans, ’80s).

Thanks to everyone who participated in the good times and to the staff and volunteers who made it all possible! Enjoy the photos below and find more in this Rehab Week photo album.

I was a Mary Freebed patient the winter of 1971-1972. I was a 17 yr.old quadriplegic due to a motorcycle accident. There was a nurse, Sandy Burke RN, and a aid Mrs.Tuffs that helped me a lot. I just retired from managing a HUD facility in Mount Pleasant. I was wondering if there was a reunion of past employees? I’d like to say Thank You! to these people. Steve Dutcher.
