Mary Free Bed to launch patient-focused podcast: ‘Rehabilitationships’

The connections that fuel recovery from serious injuries and illnesses will be featured in Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation’s new podcast: “Rehabilitationships.” The first-of-its-kind podcast launches March 24.

What’s a “rehabilitationship”? Simply put, it’s where rehabilitation and relationships meet.

“We set out to discover and share what it really takes to recover from life-altering injuries and conditions,” said host Chris Mills, Mary Free Bed’s media and external relations specialist. “That’s where this podcast got its start.”

Each month, listeners will meet patients and clinicians who chronicle their shared journey of hope and recovery through rehabilitation. Upcoming episodes feature:

  • A cricket farmer who sustained a spinal cord injury in a car crash. He’ll be joined by the physical therapist who helped him regain the ability to walk again.
  • A mother of eight who, never having run a mile, was inspired to start running to draw attention to the global water crisis.
  • How a car crash prompted a successful engineer to change careers and become CEO of a hospital.
  • A tour inside a World War II submarine, where the museum’s director participated in physical therapy.

Mary Free Bed is collaborating with veteran radio personality Phil Tower, a former host and program director at WOOD Radio. Tower works with clients across the country to help launch new podcasts.

“Working with Mary Free Bed to help start this podcast has been so exciting,” Tower said. “Podcast storytelling is an honest and intimate way to connect with people, and I’ve not seen a podcast like this out there.”

“Rehabilitationships” will be released monthly. For more information, visit maryfreebed.com/podcasts.
