Mary Free Bed welcomes new doctors beginning rehabilitation residency

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Four physicians focused on intensive rehabilitation for patients recovering from injuries and illnesses have begun post-graduate training in Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital’s Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency. They were selected from a pool of more than 300 applicants.

The three-year program has 12 residents in various stages of training. Mary Free Bed’s residency, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, includes clinical, educational and research opportunities in all areas of physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Clinical rotations are on-site in Mary Free Bed’s 167-bed hospital in Grand Rapids, where residents gain experience in all clinical areas, including brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, multiple trauma, amputation, cancer, COVID-19 and other diagnoses. Rotations also take place at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s Hospital, Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Metro Health – University of Michigan Health and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

Dr. Subha HanifSubha Hanif, M.D.
Dr. Hanif is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed her internship at Ascension Providence Hospital in Rochester, Michigan.

 

 

Dr. Callie HoelscherCallie Hoelscher, D.O.
A graduate of Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Dr. Hoelscher completed her internship at Medical City Weatherford in Weatherford, Texas.

 

 

Dr. Kyle SproullKyle Sproull, M.D.
Dr. Sproull graduated from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and finished a transitional year at Spectrum Health, both in Grand Rapids.

 

 

Dr. David WeinfeldDavid Weinfeld, M.D.
Dr. Weinfeld earned his medical degree at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester, Michigan, and completed a transitional-year internship at Saint Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac.
