Local Golfers Hit the Fairway FORE! a Great Cause

The 2022 Mary Fee Bed Open was another enjoyable and successful day the course! Despite a few sprinkles and the chance of rain throughout the day, the golfing community showed up. The Mary Free Bed Open sells out annually, and this year was no exception.  We welcomed 220 community members representing 50 area businesses and organizations to the fairways at Thousand Oaks Golf Club to support a great cause.

Hitting the Green to Raise Some Green

The Mary Free Bed Foundation hosts the annual golf outing to raise funds for Mary Free Bed’s Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports program. This year, thanks to the overwhelming generosity, the Mary Free Bed Open raised nearly $100,000. These funds will continue to provide access to adaptive equipment, coaching, classes, clinics, Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camp and competitions that ensure both kids and adults with physical or cognitive disabilities get the opportunity to play, just like everyone else.

Helping Kids Be Kids

Funds raised at the Mary Free Bed Open help kids like Liam and Seth Keifer enjoy a unique experience at Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camp. Liam and Seth are identical twins born with Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy – a rare progressive genetic disorder that affects muscle movement and the heart.

Last summer, the twins and their family traveled from Cheboygan, Michigan, to Mary Free Bed’s Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camp in Grand Rapids for the opportunity to interact with other kids “just like them.”
