Most sub-acute rehabilitation programs in Michigan are located in nursing homes or retirement communities. Not Mary Free Bed Sub-Acute Rehabilitation. You’ll find us on the fifth floor of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Our goal is to help you achieve maximum independence. A joint venture between Mary Free Bed and Trinity Health Senior Communities enables us to elevate sub-acute care to a new level. You or your loved one will receive treatment from rehabilitation experts and skilled nurses enabling you to return to your home or job as quickly as possible. Research shows the sooner vigorous rehabilitation begins, the better your ultimate outcome.
We provide short-term inpatient rehabilitation that is customized, comprehensive and coordinated to help you recover quickly from an illness, injury or surgery. Skilled nursing and rehabilitation is available for adults of all ages with many conditions, such as:
- Multiple injuries, including complex fractures
- Heart attacks and cardiac surgery
- General weakness or deconditioning after illness or surgery
- Orthopedic surgeries including laminectomy/fusion, hip and joint replacement and hip fracture repair
You’ll be evaluated by a therapist within 24 hours of your arrival. Depending on your needs, you’ll receive at least one hour of daily therapy up to seven days a week using leading-edge technology and customized gyms.
The environment is designed to promote healing in a peaceful atmosphere. Social spaces have televisions and fireplaces. When you prefer to rest in your private room, you have a 42-inch flat screen television. On your floor, you can spend time in the reflective day space, salon, a spa room and the glassed-in nooks located at the end of each hall – these provide great views of the city. Original art is displayed throughout the area.
And while you’ll experience incredible surroundings, it’s the people who really make the difference. As a family member of a patient said, “Even though I’ve worked for many years a few hundred yards away from your facility, I had no idea that such an incredible collection of talent and dedication was so close. Your facility is beautiful and your staff is the crown jewel that completes it.”
