Sports Rehabilitation - Concussion

Why treatment matters
A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury in which the brain crashes into the skull because of an impact. This can make the brain twist or stretch, disrupting the normal balance of chemicals in the brain and causing concussion symptoms and cognitive problems.

Signs of concussion
The most reported post-concussion symptoms are headache and dizziness. Other symptoms include:

  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Irritability
  • Tearfulness/sadness
  • Feeling slowed down
  • Changes in sleep patterns (sleeping more or less than usual)
  • Feeling “foggy”
  • Decreased appetite
  • Sensitivity to light or noise
  • Blurred vision
  • Poor memory/concentration
