Prosthetics with Mary Free Bed

Preparing For Your Visit

Before your appointment, your physician will evaluate your condition and provide a prescription for your prosthesis. Once we receive it, our scheduling team will contact you to set up an appointment at a time that’s convenient for you. Our clinics are open Monday through Friday—please check with your preferred Mary Free Bed Orthotics & Prosthetics + Bionics location for specific hours.

Your First Visit

During your initial visit, your prosthetist will talk with you about your medical history, current activities and personal goals. They’ll also assess your range of motion, muscle strength and take precise measurements, along with an impression of your residual limb to ensure the most comfortable fit.

Prosthetic limbs come with a variety of features and options, from basic designs to more advanced technology. Together, we’ll help you choose the prosthesis that best fits your lifestyle, goals and financial considerations. Your prosthetist will be with you every step of the way, ensuring you receive the personalized care and support you need.

Understanding Your Insurance

It’s important to check with your insurance provider regarding coverage for prosthetic devices. You’ll have a dedicated patient service representative who will handle prior authorization and provide a detailed estimate of your financial responsibility. Our in-house billing team will submit claims directly to your insurance company.

If co-pays or other costs apply, or if your insurance doesn’t cover the full amount, final responsibility for payment rests with you. To assist, we offer interest-free monthly payment plans and a charitable funding program if needed.

You can find a list of our commonly accepted insurance providers below.

Custom Fabrication and Fitting

You’ll have multiple appointments with your prosthetist to ensure your prosthetic limb is custom-tailored for the best fit and function. During this process, you’ll be fitted with a diagnostic test socket as a trial. Your prosthetist will make adjustments based on your comfort and needs before your final prosthesis is created by our skilled technicians.

Receiving Your Prosthesis

Once the fitting process is complete and your prosthesis is ready, you’ll have a delivery appointment to take your new device home. Your prosthetist will ensure you feel confident and prepared, providing all the information and guidance you need for using your prosthesis at home.

Ongoing Care and Support

Regular follow-up appointments with your prosthetist are important, especially as you adjust to wearing your new prosthesis. Your prosthetist will continue to make adjustments and ensure you have any necessary supplies, such as socks and liners. Rehabilitation is a journey, and your Mary Free Bed prosthetist will guide you through every stage, ensuring you receive the personalized care and support you need.

Orthotics with Mary Free Bed

Preparing For Your Visit

Before your visit to Mary Free Bed, your physician will evaluate your condition and provide a prescription for an orthosis. Once we receive the prescription, our scheduling team will reach out to find a convenient appointment for you. Our clinics are open Monday through Friday—please check with your preferred Mary Free Bed Orthotics & Prosthetics + Bionics location for specific hours.

Your First Visit

During your initial appointment, your orthotist will conduct a full evaluation, review your medical history and take measurements. They’ll also discuss your daily activities to ensure your orthosis is designed to fit your lifestyle. From there, your orthotist will oversee the creation of your device and teach you how to use it safely.

Understanding Your Insurance

It’s helpful to confirm with your insurance provider about coverage for orthotic devices. You’ll have the support of a dedicated patient service representative, who will handle prior authorization and provide a clear estimate of your financial responsibility. Our in-house billing team will submit claims to your insurance directly.

If co-pays or other costs are required, or if we can’t obtain full payment from your insurance, the final responsibility for payment is yours. To assist, we offer interest-free monthly payment plans and a charitable funding program if needed.

You can find a list of our commonly accepted insurance providers below.

Custom Fabrication and Fitting

Some orthoses are ready-made and available right away, while others are custom-designed to meet your specific needs, which may take a bit more time to fabricate. Your orthotist will walk you through the type your doctor has prescribed, ensuring it’s the best fit for your condition and lifestyle.

Receiving Your Orthosis

Once the fitting process is complete and your orthosis is ready, you’ll have a delivery appointment to take your new device home. Your orthotist will ensure you feel confident and prepared, providing all the information and guidance you need for using your orthosis at home.

Ongoing Care and Support

If your device fits well at the delivery appointment, you may not need further adjustments. However, if you have any questions, require modifications or your orthotist recommends follow-up care, we’re here to help. Simply contact the Mary Free Bed Orthotics & Prosthetics + Bionics location you’re working with for assistance.
