Sub-Acute Rehabilitation

Recovery knows no age.

Sub-acute rehabilitation is typically less intensive than the rehabilitation you’d need after an injury.

It’s helpful for those who need therapy to get back to full function. But most sub-acute rehabilitation programs in Michigan are in nursing homes or retirement communities.

Not Mary Free Bed Sub-Acute Rehabilitation. You’ll find us on the fifth floor of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids. That’s important, because more access for you means better outcomes.

And thanks to a joint venture with Trinity Health Senior Communities, we’re able to bring sub-acute care to a new level. Our rehabilitation experts and skilled nurses will help you recover quickly from an illness, injury or surgery so you can get better and get back home.

Why Mary Free Bed?

Our program has been awarded a five-star quality rating (the highest awarded) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, based on health inspections, staffing and quality outcomes. If quality is important to you, consider Mary Free Bed when you choose where you want to receive rehabilitation.

What’s more, for the fifth-straight year, Mary Free Bed Sub-Acute Rehabilitation has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report for Best Short-Term Rehabilitation. Our program ranked better than both state and national averages for consistency of nurse staffing, fall prevention, amount of physical therapy received and number of patients able to return home after graduation.

We provide customized, comprehensive and coordinated short-term inpatient rehabilitation.
